There is a real confessional booth in the middle of our pizzeria.
Not a replica. An actual confessional, standing at the back of Sacred Slice Pizza, our New York-style pizzeria on Carrer de Roger de Llúria, 155 in Barcelona.

This is the part that came after. What actually happens when you put a confessional in a pizza shop and let Barcelona use it.
The day it arrived
Getting it through the door was a chore. Our doorway is small, and there was a moment when we genuinely thought we would have to take the whole thing apart just to get it inside.
Then came the second battle: where to put it. I had to fight my husband pretty hard for its home at the back of the shop because, from his perspective, a confessional takes up perfectly good table space.
From mine, there was no question. It was too beautiful and too perfect for the world we were creating at Sacred Slice not to be there.
I won.
Can anyone use it?
Yes. The confessional is open to every guest, it is free, and you do not need to book it. You do not need to be Catholic or religious at all. Step in whenever we are open, and someone will be listening.
How confession works here
The rules are simple. Step inside, confess your sins, and receive a penance.
Ours run lighter than the traditional kind: bring a friend next time, wear Sacred Slice merch, take a photo and tag us, or order the pizza you would never normally pick.
Some are absolved with cava, or a bottle of Luno Soda, made right here in Barcelona.
What people actually confess
We do not share confessions. What is said in the booth stays in the booth, and that is the one rule we never break.
This is the question everyone asks. Here is our answer: nice try.
A confession is a confession, and Sacred Slice takes the seal of the confessional very seriously, even when the sins involve pineapple on pizza.
The penances people come back for
The most beloved penance, without question, is the one that rewards the sinner with The Blood of Christ: a free glass of red wine, and a reason to return. Redemption has its rewards.
We believe penance should be fun, social, and ideally involve pizza. And somehow, the same people who swear they are too full for dessert keep finding room for the Midnight Mass chocolate fudge cake. We count that as a small miracle.
Why it belongs here
Sacred Slice was never meant to feel like a standard pizzeria. It is part New York slice shop, part Barcelona neighborhood bar, part punk rock, with work by local artist Ramon Maiden woven through the space.
The booth sits at the heart of it because, in a way, this shop is a church for all the things that made us who we are.
